We are looking for a head chef to lead our kitchen team at Cassia.

Cassia has 2 hats and is a smart dining venue serving modern Indian cuisine using seasonal NZ produce. The restaurant is owned by prominent chef Sid Sahrawat and has won multiple awards including Metro Peugeot Restaurant of the year for Auckland. Our other restaurants include Sid at the French Cafe and Sidart. We are a family run business and run our businesses like they are extensions of our family.

The successful applicant will have

  •  Experience as a sous chef or above for at least 2 years in a reputable restaurant
  • Experience in both European as well as Indian cuisine
  • A diploma in cookery or equivalent

Responsibilities include

  • Delivery of food to a high standard, we are a busy restaurant and do 100 plus covers each night.
  • Team building and motivating, Ongoing training of kitchen staff
  • Recruitment of chefs and kitchen staff
  • Communicating directly with the business owner especially reporting of any complaints, staff issues or problems with stock/deliveries etc.
  • Budgeting, food cost, wage cost and stock control. 
  • Creative Menu planning, must have knowledge of European and Indian cooking techniques as the restaurant uses both in our cooking style
  • Organising efficient work schedules and rosters
  • Ensure all operational processes and procedures are adhered to including food and workplace hygiene. Must be proficient in making a food control plan and implementing it, maintaining the required paperwork for auditing by Auckland council.
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service and a positive team culture
